Ecotourism and Biodiversity

asotohidalgo

Tourism is an important source of economic growth, especially ecotourism which has been recognized as a strategy for understanding nature and educating people on conservation measures on biodiversity. The aim of ecotourism, besides educating people, is to provide them with the experience to see the remarkable facet of biodiversity of life and to generate income for its conservation through community involvement. Many regions have the responsibility to showcase their biodiversity, mainly, their landscapes, endangered ecosystems, and animal and plants population. Ecotourism educates people not only about the importance of biodiversity and its conservation, but also about the protection of the ecosystems and their services to mankind. An increase in biodiversity means an increase in these services that ecosystems provide. On the other hand, ecotourism also studies how an ecosystem collapses by natural or human interference. Visits to these locations show us how we can mitigate these damages and re-establish ecosystems.

Biodiversity is known for the multiple ecological services that it provides to mankind (air clearing. water purification, source of food and medicine, etc.) Besides understanding the importance of natural resources, ecotourism holds a huge responsibility on educating, conserving, and safeguarding biodiversity.
